MEET SOME OF THE TALENT

The Adobe Collective

The Adobe Collective effortlessly embody what has become known as the "high desert sound". Based in Joshua Tree, CA their surroundings reflect a kind of no-frills authenticity that is baked into their music - cosmic desert Americana with flashes of psychedelia, country, and indie rock. At times hard-hitting, at other times heartfelt and tender, rather than stick to a ready-made musical template, they let the rhythms of the California desert guide their creative path.

Edge of the West

Edge of the West is a Rock n' Roots Honky Tonk Jamband. Their catchy, quirky originals and outlaw hippie sound strikes a chord with lovers of alt-country, Americana & the Grateful Dead. The live shows are a blast. The group writes original tunes and draws from from a deep well of eclectic covers, never playing the same show twice. A new record drops May 2016. This all-star band features members of Great American Taxi, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Todd Snider & more. When playing together in this configuration these guys have a ton of fun, as does the audience. Just try and sit still. Across the canyon we hear drums in the distance. Notes From the underground drift like smoke signals to a strange yet familiar place, where new friends and old come together for good times - The Edge of the West.

Steve Lester-Shadow Mountain Band

The band began 13 years ago as a hillbilly music jam session in the garden behind Pappy and Harriet's Palace, an historic roadhouse in Pioneertown, CA. Crowds began to gather around to hear the mountain-style harmonies and old-time tunes. The management of Pappy and Harriet's began coming out to listen and soon asked the jammers to come in and play inside for the restaurant crowd. Within a few months, they were joined by Pioneertown resident Johnny Ray Martin on the mountain-style autoharp (an instrument you seldom hear outside of Appalachia), and premier fiddler Bobby Furgo (from the Leonard Cohen band). The group was rounded out when Steve and Darlene's son, Damian Lester, known around the farm as ‘Dooley', joined the band on acoustic bass, and brilliant, soft-spoken Charlie Joe Wallace added his talents on dobro and vocals, along with Banjo Bob Hamilton. Shadow Mountain also often features special guests, depending on which musical friends are in town at the time.

Blending varying degrees of folk, rock, and alt-country, Laterzo is an artist who continues to create a unique style of song best described as American cowboy rock. The spirit of the open road, the imagery of boundless landscapes and weathered travelers, the loping rhythms- as with Laterzo's previous work, it's all there in West Coast Sound. Co-produced by Jeff LeGore and Chris Laterzo, West Coast Sound is a culmination of a seasoned artist dedicated to the craft of songwriting.

Laterzo spends a great deal of time supporting his indie albums on the DIY touring circuit both solo and with his band Buffalo Robe, covering various parts of the US, and across the Atlantic to Europe.

Pat Kearns

Pat Kearns is a singer-songwriter, recording engineer, and radio personality hailing from Portland, Oregon. He relocated near Joshua Tree, California, in 2017 when gentrification closed in on his studio, PermaPress Recording. Formerly the leader of the power pop ensemble Blue Skies for Black Hearts, Kearns' interests turned toward roots music with his move to the desert. His three solo records reflect this shift with more spartan arrangements, mostly acoustic instruments, and a hint of country twang beginning with his goodbye to Portland, "So Long City." His second album, "Down in the Wash," was recorded in his off-grid homestead cabin in the desert. Kearns latest album, "Getting Lost" is the first to be recorded at his solar-powered recording studio, Goat Mountai

LA TIMES
Every year the mounting landfill of new releases that threatens to bury the working music journalists yields a few unexpected gems, and Tom Freund is one of them.
NEW YORK TIMES
Freund clearly delights in enigma. His vocals could go from laconic to impassioned without such obvious trickery as cranking up the volume. His lyrics are full of curve balls.
WASHINGTON POST
California-based troubadour Tom Freund sings of skate-boarding kids, impending doom and Happy Days lunch boxes on his new album, Two Moons.
NPR WEEKEND EDITION
If you want to hear what California feels like, Tom Freunds new album is a good place to start.
ACOUSTIC GUITAR
I get shivers down my spine on almost every tune. Along with Lucinda Williams, Freund is the best singer/songwriter operating today.
